The Group Fitness classes are designed to offer a variety of exercises, with classes tailored to increase cardiovascular endurance, to build muscular strength, or to increase range of motion through stretching. Classes are designed to encompass a wide variety of fitness levels; appropriate modifications are offered for participants of different abilities within each class.
Ageless Yoga: Ageless Yoga is a self-paced stretching class for participants who are looking to increase their flexibility and joint range of motion. Pose modifications will be offered. Participants may sit or stand for class. Ageless Yoga seeks to honor the aging body, yet help participants continue to explore appropriate exercise options building self-confidence.
Cardio & Core: Cardio and Core is a class structured to challenge the heart and lungs and make you sweat! Blocks of total body movement, intervals, and other cardio progressions will be utilized with a variety of heart-pumping exercises, along with core exercises to shape and tone the abdominal and back muscles! Low-impact and higher intensity options will be offered so that participants from a variety of fitness levels can find their own aerobic challenge.
Clarinda Pump: Clarinda Pump is a resistance class designed to improve muscular endurance and muscular strength. Participants will use a variety of resistance equipment during this full body workout. Clarinda Pump is for all fitness levels, as individual participants determine the amount of resistance they use for each exercise.
Deep Water Exercise: Deep Water Exercise is an aqua class that takes place in the 10-foot deep end of the pool. Participants use flotation belts to stay suspended in the water, allowing for a total body cardio workout. Deep Water Exercise is impact-free for the joints and challenging for the participant’s heart & lungs as the body moves constantly against the natural resistance of the water. Challenge your body in a new, fun, and effective way! A limited number of flotation belts provided. Class size is limited; space & equipment available at a first come/first serve basis.
Fitness Yoga: Fitness yoga is a mat-based, flow-style yoga class that seeks to improve the mind/body connection for participants. The class is designed to improve joint range of motion, balance, and muscular endurance and strength. Breath awareness will be emphasized as participants are led through a flow of yoga poses. Yoga mats, blocks, and straps are provided. Participants should wear comfortable fitness clothing when attending.
Gentle Yoga: Gentle yoga is a mat-based yoga class designed for the participant new to yoga or seeking yoga poses and flows that can be modified for a variety of joint and mobility challenges. Basic, foundational yoga poses and their modifications, as well as a focus on breath awareness and control allow the participant to improve joint range of motion, balance, and muscular strength while also developing mind/body connection. Participants can expect to leave class relaxed and energized! Yoga mats, blocks, and straps are provided. Participants should wear comfortable fitness clothing when attending.
Low-Impact Step Aerobics: Join us in this cardio class perfect for beginners and seasoned "steppers" as well. A low-impact cardio workout using easy-to-follow step combinations and routines as well as core and toning exercises.
R-I Training (Resistance-Interval Training): R-I Training is a resistance class is designed with a strict adherence to timed strength training intervals. Participants will complete a timed interval of resistance training. The work interval is immediately followed by an active recovery or complete rest period. Research indicates that this style of interval training is very effect at burning fat. R-I Training is appropriate for all fitness levels, as participants determine the intensity of the work intervals.
Rise & Shine: Start your day out right! Designed to be joint-friendly and low-impact, this class utilizes chairs, resistance bands, and light dumbbells. We'll cover cardio moves, light strength training, and stretching! We'll remain seated in the chair or standing with optional support of the chair; no kneeling positions or floor exercises.
Strength Training 101: Strength Training 101 is an introductory/beginning strength training class. Basic resistance exercises are introduced, with a focus on how to properly perform simple strength training exercises, how to select appropriate dumbbells/resistance equipment, and how to handle the equipment safely. New to strength training and not sure where to start? Or looking for a basic, straight-forward total body resistance training class? Let our certified instructor guide you to increased lean muscle mass, increased bone density, and stronger, more toned muscles!
Sweat & Strength: Let's get moving! Combining low-impact cardio moves with toning strength training, this class is a total body workout.
Water Exercise: Water Exercise is an aqua class designed to improve flexibility and range of motion, as well as strengthen and tone muscles. The water promotes a feeling of weightlessness, allowing participants to perform exercises with less stress on joints. The warmth of the water soothes the joints, reduces strain, and eases arthritis pain, while also providing natural resistance to movements. Water Exercise is a great cardiovascular, low-impact workout for all ages!
Zumba Gold®: Zumba Gold® takes the Zumba® formula and modifies the moves and pacing to suit the needs of the active older participant or those just starting their journey to a fit and healthy lifestyle. What stays the same are all the elements the Zumba® Fitness-Party is known for: zesty Latin and world rhythms, such as salsa, merengue, cumbia, and belly-dance; exhilarating, easy-to-follow, and effective moves; and the invigorating, party-like atmosphere.
